FI-210: Wildland Fire Origin & Cause Determination

Prerequisites: Recommended that students have prior Law Enforcement experience or minimum of 1 year of Fire Fighting Experience.

  1. Qualified Firing Boss (FIRB)
  2. Qualified Incident Commander Type 4 (ICT4)
  3. Completion and Certification of NWCG Position Task Book for Prescribed Fire Burn Boss Type 2 (RXB2)

S-130/190 Selection:

5-day: This course is all in person, there is no prework required

2-Day (field and review): This course includes 27 hours on online prework that must be completed prior to your arrival. The in-person course will be two full days of field activities.

Summary

Terms and Conditions
Refund Policy: All cancellations must be made in writing to NYWIMA@pb.state.ny.us and must be received no later than September 30, 2025. Full tuition refunds will be given for all cancellations made by September 30, 2025. After September 30, a fee of $100 will be charged for each class cancelled, no exceptions for one day classes. The administrative fee is non-refundable, and refunds will not be issued for “No Shows.” Substitutions are possible by October 15th.

Payment

Registration must be received by close of business on October 1, 2025. Registration received after that date will be processed as time and class availability allows. 


REFUND POLICY: ALL CANCELLATIONS must be made in writing to NYWIMA@pb.state.ny.us

Cancellation requests must be received no later than October 1st to ensure a full refund. Full tuition refunds will be given for all cancellations made by the close of business on Friday, October 1st. The administrative fee is non-refundable.  After October 1st, a fee of $100 will be charged for each class cancelled (no exceptions for 1-day courses).  Refunds will not be given for "No Shows".  Substitutions will be considered if made no later than October 15th.
