S-236: Heavy Equipment Boss (HEQB - Single Resource)

Course objectives include:

Identify and demonstrate the heavy equipment inspection process and related duties of the HEQB. Demonstrate the actions required of a heavy equipment boss to safely and effectively complete an assignment. 

Discuss relevant information and methods for communication and tactics related to heavy equipment. Identify the process of preparing for an all-hazard assignment.

Prerequisite(s): Satisfactory completion of pre-course work, & FFT1 qualified.

Flat Fee: $270

S-130/190: Online field and review for basic wildland fire fighting and Intro to wildland fire behavior (Field Days Only)

This course is for individuals who have taken S-130/190 online. Students must submit proof upon arrival to the academy that they have completed the online portion of this class.

Please visit the Wildland Fire Learning Portal at wildlandfirelearningportal.net/ to create a profile and complete the online requirements for S-130, S-190, and L-180 (On Demand Self-Enroll Courses).

Prerequisite(s): Successful completion of the online modules: S130, S-190, L-180.

Flat Fee: $160

Terms and Conditions
Registrations with NYWIMA and BNL must be received by end of day Saturday, September 30, 2024. A confirmation letter will be sent to the email address you provide. Registrations received after September 30 will be processed as a late registration and as time and class availability allows. Federal employees whose agencies face end of fiscal year spending restrictions may still register prior to payment. Invoices will be based on registration date and can be paid in the new federal fiscal year. Please contact NYWIMA to make arrangements. **Classes that do not reach full attendance by October 1, 2024, may be canceled. FINANCIAL: ** If you are not registering online - for your registration to be processed, it must be accompanied by a check, credit card number or agency voucher and must be completely filled out. Visa & MasterCard accepted. Ray Corwin Memorial Scholarship: S-130/190 Basic Firefighting & Wildfire Behavior (five day and field day courses) and S-215 Fire Operations in the Wildland/Urban Interface are FREE to Suffolk and Nassau County, NY volunteer firefighters. Refund Policy: All cancellations must be made in writing to NYWIMA@pb.state.ny.us and must be received no later than September 30, 2024. Full refunds will be given for all cancellations made by September 30, 2024. After September 30, a fee of $80 will be charged for each class cancelled. If you are taking a one day only class, the cancellation fee is $80 for cancellations after September 30. The administrative fee is non-refundable, and refunds will not be issued for “No Shows.” Substitutions are possible.
